The scars healed from the battle did not persist on the prime vessel. Yumaro was scarcely affected by the previous encounter with the foreigner, despite facing a level of destruction unseen for a long time along the mist shores. It was a rare occasion that saw the flesh of a Kaguya torn, a consequence of the overwhelming force exerted by magnetically charged metallic ship wreckage, weighing tons and delivering unimaginable force. Yet, the perfect vessel recovered from the damage without any lingering ailments, a testament to his natural resilience, his lineage, and his mastery over Shikotsumyaku. It was a spectacle, witnessing his body heal from any residual damage. As he healed, water was used to rinse his body clean. The simmering rage within him began to subside, and he started to see the world clearly once more. The water district lay vulnerable, a fact that greatly displeased him, especially his previous confrontations with Isamu, the former Mizukage.
“Disgusting,” he voiced his profound disapproval, blaming himself and Higetsu. He also placed fault on the Chinoike clan lord for their failure, for choosing a Mizukage who let the land down. “
Fucking Isamu…” he muttered, exhausted, before his breathing normalized.
From the ocean, a fog emerged, thick with moisture, designed to impair vision. However, such a tactic was futile against those of the highest echelon, Yumaro included. His emerald eyes pierced through the approaching mist. It enveloped him and the shore, and within moments, the steps ahead lessened the distance. This approach, typical of the native land, was a bold move before the one who reigned over the sea. He could see through the obscured atmosphere, identifying the figures responsible—one bore a resemblance to the Kaguya.
“Interesting,” he muttered, intrigued by the possibility of another from his lineage. He examined the man’s bone structure, noting its commendable density, strength, and reinforcement. Such power was rare among the Kaguya, and those who did inherit it were seldom worthy of its might. He remained unmatched, until now, as he observed the man brandishing one of the legendary swords, boldly crossing his path. Yumaro was in no hurry to engage in combat again, yet he was prepared to destroy anyone who threatened peace within this district. The dense atmosphere did not deter him, the King of the Dead Sea, accustomed to navigating all manner of waters.
A figure moved through the mist, not with the brute force of the man with the legendary sword, but with an elegance that seemed to phase through the ocean currents. Yumaro's gaze fixed on her, noting her displeasure at the sight of him. When she voiced her judgment, an unusual experience for a Kaguya, Yumaro chuckled.
"And who the hell are you?!" he retorted sharply, his question rhetorical, indifferent to her opinion since she was absent during the village's attack. They were all naive to the threat looming over the shinobi world, a threat Yumaro had been confronting for weeks, safeguarding the shinobi of the mist district and their allies without the help of the two previous Mizukage.
This woman posed no threat to the Mist; rather, she was an ally who had taken a subtle approach to rejuvenating the village's inhabitants. Yumaro had not seen such a trait among any of the district's residents in his lifetime, leading him to wonder about her identity. Her movements were graceful and dignified, seemingly commanding the water around her not with chakra but with mere intent. Her approach was refined, her demeanor sophisticated. The King chose to observe, and as the woman spoke, he paid close attention, noting how the sea and its creatures reacted to her presence. He surmised she might be from the Funato clan; as one with the sea himself, he recognized her authority was unparalleled.
After hearing her words, which echoed his own convictions, he thought quietly, a thought he believed no one, regardless of their advanced hearing, could discern.
"I'll certainly kill her if she abandons us, like the previous Mizukage..." He pondered, before stepping in front of the crowd. Elevating his voice in both admiration and affirmation of her legitimacy, he exclaimed,
"Queen of the Sea, our Mizukage! Queen of the Sea, our Mizukage! Queen of the Sea, our Mizukage!" His chant, growing louder, was taken up by the villagers and, in the indiscernible language of the sea, seemingly by the creatures as well.
With the crowd's support, Yumaro pivoted towards where the real delegation would begin: the office of the Mizukage. Holding Nuibari in hand, he made his way towards his destination, ready to stand beside the newly acknowledged Mizukage, not just as her subordinate but as a staunch ally. In this moment, Yumaro acted not just on behalf of the Kaguya or the mist shinobi but for the greater good of the village, signaling a new era under the leadership of the "Queen of the Sea."
