Time Skip - The Shadow's World Reappearance

The week-long time skip has heralded significant changes across the globe: a mysterious surge in the disappearance of both shinobi and citizens, coupled with a rise in the number of worshippers of an unknown deity from the Shadow World. These devotees pray for their lives to be spared and for the promise of a more prosperous existence within the Shadow World. In response to this escalating threat, the Gokage have united, forming an international coalition to combat the encroaching danger posed by the Shadow World. Although the true objectives of this shadowy realm remain elusive, the global leaders recognize that the recent massacres are merely the precursor to a more severe confrontation. To bolster their defenses, they've formed shinobi alliance squads—small, specialized teams comprising three to four ninjas from diverse nations, prepared to face whatever challenges come next.

The raikage sat in her office with a saccharine look on her face. Her attention to detail and more over her predatory mindset is what often set her apart from her kage counterparts. In a weeks time they had all decided to work in close arms with one another and more importantly begin the cultivation of the Jinchuriki. Most of them were young and that meant they were inexperienced beyond rapport. The need for strength within the youth was growing more than ever considering that every nation had been brought under the vengeful guise of attack from those within the ever present shadow realm. Her brow knit with forethought and frustration alike causing heart to pound within her chest accompanied by a bead of sweat. She stopped her deep thought only being torn away by the presence of sweat and thought to herself. “Am I nervous?” her head craned from side to side shaking the thought free from her mind before turning her attention to her desk. The team she’d sent to the gold district was still doing well in their endeavor last she had heard and more over her annexation of Ouza. This was the important piece among the lightning’s pawns: a small nation that could bridge the gap between smaller nations and moreover bolster the resources of the lightning itself. It was a two way street in the eyes of those in the know. A public trading route and more over a means to test the waters on how exactly Nagi academy was going to uphold a standard of training long since lost to the old world.

The Kumoi had done away with the idea of sending their children to the academy first. Their young often joined clansmen on the hunt getting their first taste for the thrill of battle well before they even joined the ranks of the cloud village or ventured out into the world all their own to make a name for themselves in their teenage years. Individuals like this were no different than the Raikage herself. The raikage began to reminisce on her past almost as if lost in the memory of the hunt itself. The very thing that brought her one of her most treasured weapons to date.

Fifteen years ago…

Chika Kumoi faced her first hunt amidst the treacherous Floating Peaks of Raiyama. The levitating landmasses swayed above the tumultuous landscape, their rocky surfaces illuminated by lightning arcing between them. At only fifteen, she scaled the peaks alone, her twin wakizashi in hand, tracking a fierce thunderbird known as the Raijitoran. This majestic predator, revered and feared among the Kumoi hunters, was said to be born from the island’s violent storms, its feathers crackling with electricity. The Raijitoran thrived in the volatile environment, blending seamlessly with the lightning-charged air. Slaying the beast would not only solidify Chika’s place among the hunters but also grant her a deeper connection to the island’s legendary lightning chakra.
The battle unfolded high above the storm-tossed earth, where unstable ground shifted unpredictably beneath her feet. The Raijitoran attacked with savage force, its colossal wings beating to summon gusts of wind that sent chunks of floating rock crashing down. Chika danced through the chaos, leaping from one hovering platform to the next, her blades sparking as they clashed against the bird’s electrified talons. Each strike demanded flawless timing and balance, every breath drawn amid the storm’s howls. As she closed in, the bird unleashed a blinding bolt of lightning, but Chika twisted away, countering with a decisive slash that severed its wing, sending it plummeting to a lower peak.

With a screech of pain, the Raijitoran crashed onto the rocky surface, its body convulsing as the last of its energy crackled across its iridescent plumage. Chika followed, landing beside her fallen prey, her breath heavy in the electrified air. Kneeling beside the creature, she ended its suffering with a swift, clean strike. The storm roared its approval, casting eerie light across the Floating Peaks. Standing over the kill, Chika gazed at the bird, knowing the Raijitoran would be remembered as the first of many to fall by her blade—a creature touched by the lightning itself, now marking the beginning of her own legend among Raiyama’s hunters.

She clawed her way back from the exhilarating memory as a soft smile crept across her face almost eager to cultivate the newer generation but more importantly handle the impending threat of the shadow’s that threatened both her and her people. It was only a matter of time before things began to unfold into what could only be described as sheer pandemonium amongst the powers that be, an exciting possibility as far as she was concerned.

After a week-long mission, Indira returned to Kumogakure, his heart lightening at the sight of home. Relief washed over him as he noted the safe return and evident growth of his students. Entering the Raikage's office, Indira made a demonstrative entrance by tossing the captured enemy leader onto the floor before pinning him down with his foot to prevent any escape. "Lady Chika, we've completed our mission," Indira announced, his tone firm as he addressed the Raikage. "This man orchestrated the attack on the miners. He'll be coming around soon enough, and for his sake, he'd better start talking." Turning towards Gamu and Yugo with a proud smile, he added, "And I must say, the credit for this mission's success belongs to these two. Thanks to them, the Gold District's miners are safe." Indira then gently nudged both of his students forward towards the Raikage's desk, signaling their significant role in the operation.

The Young Genin stands at attention showing full respect to Raikage Chika and also showing focus when referred to by Indira Sensei a brief somber look of sadness in the boy's eyes "We stopped the worst case scenario...I am glad we were able to stop this bastard but...next time I will be even better!." The words are said with confidence and resolve however in Yugo's mind he was admonishing himself briefly locked in thoughts of how many lives could have been saved if he were a better...faster...anything more he might have been able to do. Yugo was paying attention wishing to be respectful but when this engagement was over he intended to talk with Indira sensei to discuss advice on how Yugo can improve his training methods not wishing to let stubbornness or pride diminish his chances to grow as a shinobi.

When Indira and the young shinobi left in his stead arrived with company in tow the Raikage’s eyes were filled with life, a successful hunt as far as she was concerned. Albeit the Raikage herself had no concern on whether or not Indira would lead his students to victory. Chika gave a curt nod in Indira’s direction before nodding and speaking in her typical feminine stern tone. “Well done all of you. I expected nothing less from some of the village's finest.” She raised a hand as if to signal for guards but the only individual that arrived was her assistant Orihara. His saccharine smile present beneath his shaggy mint green hair. Upon his arrival he could now be seen sitting on the legs of the same individual that Indira had his foot pressed against with his back turned to the trio. Orihara’s eyes awkwardly looked around for a moment realizing he had in fact been facing the wrong direction.

He no sooner popped to his feet, inevitably standing between both Indira and Yugo alike, patting them each on the shoulder before speaking with a level of unfettered excitement. “Oh hey Indira! Ope, how could I forget… uh…” Orihara’s finger tapped along his chin in an attempt to remember the young boys name before it came to mind. “Yugo! Right right, I got it from here you two debrief with the raikage and I’ll uh.. Tend to our newest friend here..” Orihara’s eyes and demeanor alike appeared to darken as he spoke about the village's prisoner. “Anyway.. Yea I’ll take em from here, Lady Chika you know i'm just a call away if things get out of hand!” He smiled to her in anticipation for his next endeavor.

Had Indira relinquished the prisoner to Orihara a cube would emerge forged of cerulean chakra and with that their collective images would erupt into a cloud of smoke relieving them of their catch and subsequently leaving them to their devices. In turn the Raikage would wait to hear what Indira and his students had uncovered during their venture to the gold district.

As they stood before Chika a warn out Gamu remained quiet not sure what to say after their successful mission and instead he let Yugo do the talking. While Indira and Yugo spoke Gamu listened carefully as he was praised by his mentor. Following on from the kind words of his sensei Gamu would speak up. "Thanks sensei, we just did what we needed to do," said Gamu momentarily before a new figure made their presence known.

The new figure with teal hair that covered his eyes made his way in and quickly spoke to Yugo and Indira before letting the group know he was going to be taking the prisoner off their hands. Weirdly though the man only spoke to Yugo and Indira almost as if he didn't notice Gamu's presence or just didn't choose to interact with him. Normally Gamu would find this a little rude as he had just risked his life alongside Yugo to capture the terrorist. This time though Gamu ignored it and chocked it up to him being busy.

"Lady Chika, I want to say I hope Yugo and I have made ya proud and we swear to work even harder next time to get the job done quicker."

Indira lifted his foot from the subdued old man, a scientist who had misused his talents to orchestrate a perilous assault on the miners in the Gold District. A nod and a smile greeted Orihara, signaling the official end of the mission and the beginning of cleanup. Orihara, though not widely known beyond his expertise in barrier-ninjutsu, was reputed within the Takeuchi clan for creating impenetrable confines—ensuring that the prisoner's chance of escape was next to nil.

Feeling a swell of pride and motivation emanating from his students, Indira prepared to acknowledge their pivotal contributions formally. "Once again, this mission's success was due entirely to Gamu and Yugo. Upon entering the cave, we faced an array of remotely controlled puppets, a tactic unfamiliar to us. A misstep activated a mine under my foot, rendering me immobile and at risk of triggering an explosion. It was a moment that made me feel utterly helpless," Indira recounted, the gravity of the situation still resonant in his voice.

"I had no choice but to rely entirely on Gamu and Yugo," he continued, his tone imbued with both seriousness and a hint of admiration for his students' courage under pressure. "Each faced unique challenges with their opponents, whose abilities remain largely unknown to me. I'll let them fill you in on those details." Indira's report to Raikage Chika was succinct, conveying both the dangers faced and the crucial roles his students played in averting a greater disaster. His words not only informed but also highlighted his trust and pride in Yugo and Gamu, setting the stage for them to share their own experiences from the mission.

YUGO
Kumo-Divider.png

Yugo actively ignores the dragging away of the old man not wishing to reignite his spite for a man who had been so callous with the lives of others. The young shinobi remains quiet, still sternly reprimanding himself for the faults he recalled from his battle and the mission at large. Waiting for the debrief to call for explanations as he is briefly lost in thoughts of how to ask his sensei for paths of growth only for those thoughts to be cut short.

"I had no choice but to rely entirely on Gamu and Yugo,"
Hearing Indra sensei speak so highly of him and Gamu stirs relief in his heart. Yugo knows he has much room to grow to be worthy of the village that has accepted him as one of their own. However hearing those words that praise alleviates some of Yugo’s self doubt and judgement knowing his master saw value in his performance would instead ignite the desire to develop skill enough to make such praise a more common occurrence.

When Indira indicates for Yugo and Gamu to elaborate on the report he nods obediently “Master Indira is very kind in his appraisal of my role, after departure from the office of the Gold district leader we heard signs of chaos and arrived to find damage spreading out from the mine causing considerable structural instability and collapse. I rushed in to the best of my abilities to block and minimize debris from harming civilians in the path of the attack. We sought to usher civilians in earshot to evacuate but made our way to the tunnel…Gamu was able to serve as the vanguard with his technique and I used the opportunity to blitz the remaining dolls when their formation was halted. When the madman made threats to try and keep master Indira from acting me and Gamu figured we had to divide and conquer…we then separately encountered the visage of a masked woman with the version I encountered using skills very similar to those of Gamu…I made use of my bloodline’s brutal tactics to prevail” Yugo remains in a kneeling respectful posture as he finishes his report showing a militant discipline and reverence for both his sensei and the Kage.

Listening to the words spoken by those in the room the tired and warn out Gamu would take in everything that was being said smiling at the praise he was being given and waiting for his time to speak as he and Yugo were asked to explain their actions and their involvements in the events in the Gold District. Gamu listened to Yugo's version of events and was shocked to find she was using his jutsu against Yugo as that would mean that the familiar movements the woman used against him were most definitely Yugo's.

"Well I don't have all that much to add seeing Yugo already explained most of it, so I'll just throw in some minor details. As Yugo said I was the vanguard and I trapped them. I did this by using my Gum Clone to lure the puppets in and when the puppets started hacking at my clone I had it burst trapping them in bubblegum. Then Yugo busted their heads and after that as mentioned we had to split after Indira sensei got trapped. So then as Yugo already said we both faced the smae woman seperatly and the crazy thing was that while she used my Bubblegum Ninja Arts against him she used his Taijutsu against me. It seems like each time we used a jutsu she was ready for she would replicate it and use it against the other, but in the end I managed to beat her. I used this cool new jutsu i invented in a spar with Indira sensei where I launch myself at them and roll while using my lightning and I hurtle towards them cutting them up. Its a lot more awesome when you see my Cloud Style: Rolling Thunder Cutter in action then when I try to explain it," Said Gamu who had been quite literally rambling on due to the excitement of getting to explain his and Yugo's achievements to the Raikage herself.

The Raikage listened with a deep intensity matched only by the very beast she hunted for sport. She shifted in her chair a bit taking in the words of both indira and his progeny by his side. It was clear to the Raikage that she had made the right decision intrusting them to Indira’s tutelage for the time being. Despite the fact that they were so young they managed to successfully apprehend the individual responsible for the disarray within the gold district. She looked to Yugo who was in a kneeling position and gestured with her hand for him to rise as she spoke briefly. “No need for formality, boy on your feet.” She than turned her attention to Gamu who gave his account of the scenario and in doing so she was impressed with the fact that despite their age they had taken such great account of the mission at hand; in a way it reminded the Raikage of herself at their age eager to conquer her next hunt whether it was man or beast. Soon after Gamu finished giving his account she offered the trio a toothy smile. Chika soon pushed back from her desk, moving to stand in front of its wooden form with her arms now crossed in front of her chest before she began to speak once more.

“The three of you take some time to yourselves. I will personally send someone to gather the two of you.” She said gesturing at Yugo and Gamu both. “As for you Indira, I am sure you’re just as tired as I am so perhaps you should take a leave of absence and let Orihara take over for a while.” Chika said this offering Indira the option of taking a step back from his duties only to give him the reprieve he was surely looking for.

Meanwhile in the bowels of Kumogakure..

The sound of trickling water filled the empty air before the sound of an abrupt thud broke the rhythmic trickle. This sound was none other than flesh on damp soil and moments later the sound of Orihara’s own rhythmic pitter patter. The tension of his muscles apparently relieved as he knelt down to look the village's new found prisoner in the face. “What’s it like knowing your leader sent you there to die?” His toothy smile filled with a sinister aura only painting the reality of the situation this individual was at hand. The air in the underground chamber of Kumogakure was damp, thick with the metallic tang of blood and the acrid scent of fear. The flickering light of oil lamps cast elongated, dancing shadows on the stone walls, their surfaces etched with archaic sealing formulas. Each curve and stroke of the carvings seemed to hum faintly with suppressed energy, a testament to Orihara’s skill as a barrier shinobi. From the ceiling hung heavy iron shackles, their darkened metal marred with scratches and dried blood from countless prisoners before. Chains, reinforced with chakra-suppressing seals, dangled ominously, their ends swaying slightly in the stagnant air. The faint creak of the chains, as if responding to the weight of the room’s grim history, added a sinister rhythm to the otherwise oppressive silence. As much as Orihara was a happy go lucky individual at times when it came to handling a task deemed necessary by the woman under his watchful gaze there was nothing that could stop him from completing what was expected of him. He no sooner dragged the same man he had brought into the room with him by the off white lab coat he wore and began to string him up from those battered metal shackles. This was the start of both something dark and the foundation of the very shinobi world that existed before the calamity that changed the world.
