The battle had descended into chaos, but for the female Getsumei shinobi, her plan had gone perfectly—at first. She had narrowly avoided Kokezaru’s fireball with her Water Release: Water Body technique, liquefying just in time to evade the scorching heat. Slipping through the cracks of the stone pillar, she reformed below the battlefield, her chakra began to mold preparing to unleash the devastating Water technique. But before she could act, pain exploded across her shoulder. A bat, one of Kokezaru’s, struck her with enough force to stagger her forward, disrupting her balance. Another slammed into her back before she could process the first, sending her stumbling again. Her mouth tasted of iron as her vision swam. Confusion flickered in her mind, and then smoke filled her vision.
Out of that smoke, monkey limbs erupted without warning. Long, powerful arms and legs burst forth and snaked around her limbs before she could react. Her arms and legs were instantly pinned in place, wrapped in the iron grip of Ryuzaru’s transformation. Chakra flared along her spine as she struggled, but it was no use; she couldn’t form seals, couldn’t move, couldn’t defend. That’s when she saw him. Kokezaru, charging her at full speed, chakra blazing around his fist. For the first time in years, fear crept into her bones. She tried to brace for impact, to lean away from the strike, but her body refused to budge.
The blow landed flush across her jaw with the full brunt of chakra-enhanced strength. Her world exploded in white. Her head snapped violently to the side, and her consciousness shattered like glass. She didn’t even feel her knees buckle; her mind was already gone. The cursed seal etched into her flesh dimmed and dissolved, her chakra dispersing into the air as her body went limp, collapsing in the arms of the summoned monkey. Her jutsu died before it could be cast.
Meanwhile, her fellow Getsumei shinobi above was faring no better. Gyoken’s flames had left him scorched and barely standing, the cursed seal across his body pulsing erratically as it tried and failed to keep up with the damage. He slammed a burned hand to the stone platform, chakra surging as he attempted to force his regeneration. His cloak hung in tatters, skin blistering and healing only to burn again under the lingering flames. But before he could call out for aid or fall back, a shadow broke through the mist.
Jin Tendo was upon him.
The cyan glow of Jin’s eyes burned through the fog like twin beacons. The Getsumei barely had time to widen his eyes before Jin’s finger flicked forward at point-blank range. A simple motion, unassuming in appearance, but devastating in power. The kinetic blast erupted into the Getsumei shinobi’s lower half with a deafening crack. The force was cataclysmic. His legs disintegrated instantly, and his torso twisted violently as he was blasted downward. The ground shattered beneath him, and his body was vaporized before he could utter a single word. A gaping hole now scarred the battlefield, punched open by the sheer force of the attack, revealing the ancient depths of the Moon Shrine hidden beneath.
Elsewhere, another Getsumei shinobi had wound back his piston-like arm, curse mark glowing, preparing to retaliate. But before his muscles could even release, Yugo was already upon him. The Cloud Genin descended like a bolt of vengeance, empowered by nature energy and sharpened instinct. The first jab struck his solar plexus, causing his chest to seize violently. His diaphragm spasmed, cutting off his breath as the second elbow hammered into the same spot, doubling the pain. A final uppercut struck his chin, snapping his head back, and his body started to fail, muscles locking, chakra sputtering.
Yugo wasn’t done.
With no hesitation, he finished the sequence with a devastating elbow to the side of the neck. The blow knocked him clean off the platform, and he plummeted downward. Below, the unconscious body of the female Getsumei shinobi awaited his fall. He crashed into her like a falling star, limbs tangling in hers, the impact slamming them both into the ground with sickening force. A final gasp escaped her lips, and then, silence.
Both bodies twitched once, then went still. The cursed seals on their skin pulsed faintly and then began to fade. Their connection to the strange chakra that sustained them was severed. In the span of mere moments, three of the Moon Shrine’s elite defenders had been neutralized by the overwhelming coordination and strength of four Genin. The Moon Shrine trembled, not from jutsu, but from the realization that something greater was unfolding.
The destruction within the shrine had unearthed a hidden stone tablet, its surface etched with glowing symbols and ancient text no outsider could decipher. It pulsed with forgotten chakra, revealing the secrets of the Moonlight District sealed within. Before anyone could draw closer, a cold, commanding voice echoed from the shadows,
"Enough!", reverberating through the broken temple like a warning from something watching just beyond the veil.
