Moonlight District / "月明かりの国" (Tsukiakari no Kuni)

The Moonlight District is strategically situated between the Stone District, which is known for its rugged terrain and strong-willed shinobi, and the Cloud District. This location allows the Moonlight District to serve as a bridge between the two regions and, at times, a mediator in their affairs. The district's name is derived from the ethereal glow of the moonlight that bathes the landscape, casting an almost magical ambiance over the area. The streets come alive with lantern-lit markets, street performers, and bustling activity.

The Moonlight District is known for its rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and art. It's a hub for artists, musicians, and performers who showcase their talents in open-air theaters and small, intimate venues. The district's residents are often well-versed in the fine arts, and it's not uncommon to find tea houses, galleries, and libraries that cater to their interests.

⦿ Luna Isle / "ルナ島" (Runa-Tou) ⦿

Luna Isle boasts a diverse landscape, ranging from pristine white sandy beaches kissed by gentle waves to lush, dense forests that extend into its interior. Its most distinctive feature is a prominent mountain at its center, which is said to be the source of the island's mystical energy. Mt. Kikyo is often referred to as the "Moonlit Peak" due to its shimmering appearance during the night, especially when illuminated by the moonlight.

Luna Isle is known for its abundant natural chakra reserves, a phenomenon attributed to the Moonlit Peak. The chakra here is said to have a calming and rejuvenating effect on those who visit the island. As a result, Luna Isle is often frequented by meditative ninja and travelers seeking to harness the island's energy for their training or healing.

⦿ Village Hidden in the Moonlight / "月隠れの里" (Tsukigakure) ⦿

As the sun sets and the moon rises, Moonlight Village comes alive with a soft, silvery glow that bathes its streets, buildings, and canals. Lanterns and paper lanterns adorned with intricate designs line the pathways, casting a captivating play of shadows. The village's architecture combines traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern amenities, creating a unique blend of old and new.

Trade and commerce flourish in Moonlight Village, with bustling markets offering exotic goods, rare herbs, and mystical artifacts. Merchants from various regions converge here to conduct business, and the village's economy benefits greatly from its strategic location.

Time Skip - The Shadow's World Reappearance

The week-long time skip has heralded significant changes across the globe: a mysterious surge in the disappearance of both shinobi and citizens, coupled with a rise in the number of worshippers of an unknown deity from the Shadow World. These devotees pray for their lives to be spared and for the promise of a more prosperous existence within the Shadow World. In response to this escalating threat, the Gokage have united, forming an international coalition to combat the encroaching danger posed by the Shadow World. Although the true objectives of this shadowy realm remain elusive, the global leaders recognize that the recent massacres are merely the precursor to a more severe confrontation. To bolster their defenses, they've formed shinobi alliance squads—small, specialized teams comprising three to four ninjas from diverse nations, prepared to face whatever challenges come next.

Mission: Where the Moon Weeps

6f3c20c21cd465c1572bd1c8be2d572d.png

The Moonlight District was cloaked in an eerie stillness, its silence as unnatural as the sky above. The sun’s reflection against the moon cast not a silver glow, but a soft, crystalline hue—pale purple light that shimmered like it had passed through amethyst glass. Beneath this haunting radiance lay the village of Tsukigakure, home to the elusive Getsumei clan.

Shrouded in secrecy, little was known of the Getsumei beyond whispers—masters of illusion, silence, and shadow. But now, even those whispers had gone quiet. Their messages, patrols, and chakra check-ins had ceased without warning. Not a word. Not a sign.

As members of the United Shinobi Alliance, an investigation team had been sent to uncover the truth.

The air of the forest path was an intriguing experience it wasnt the sweeping breath of the mountains he had grown accustom to back in Kumogakure but air rippled with lingering nature from the trees like each a wooden idol taking shallow breaths fill the air with an array of scents. It took getting used to but there was no time like the present to adapt as he moves in a blur of flickering swift launching motions silently launching himself from branch to branch covering a swath of the path that flanked the main road the group was taking towards the Moonlight District. Yugo let his eyes scan for anything out of the ordinary a search for prey or threats alike as his eyes see the trail of a sizable boar the rummage and damage to the brush a tell tale sign of its recent presence provoking a slight smirk and an accompanied grumble from his stomach at the thought of rich savory pork flavor as he launches himself into a small clearing of the forest following the trail the beast had left.

Yugo landing into the brush was not a soundless approach the young genin had no intent to handling this in the way of shadow deep down he needed this brief confrontation to sooth the vicious intent that slithers in his veins as his approach stirs activity in the bushes ahead. The young Jugo clan shinobi stands tall taking on a loose martial pose letting his muscles remain relaxed as the air growths thick before a hogs scrrech and charge out of the brush across from him rushing in his direction. Yugo pivots his left foot as it slides forward his body responding with muscle memory and instinct as his mind examines the Boat noting its healthy weight and size in appraisal as he delivers a twisting blow to the base of the beasts neck his non-rigid and relaxed pose making it so the forward momentum of the boar pushes but does not harm him as there is an audible crack the massive hog soundlessly slumping to the floor its three main neck spinal vertibre severed by the impact of his knuckle. Yugo offers a minor prayer in his head thankful for the beasts sacrifice for nourishment and taking note that the end for the noble creature had been isntant and painless.

-Campsite-

Yugo had little trouble carrying the carcass of the beast treating it the same way he often treated most heavy loads for his taijutsu training as he made his way to the spot along the road he had pointed out on the map making a small camp fire and beginning preperations for harvesting the boar. Keen eyes would notice the impact on the boars neck was indicitive of both a considerable sudden force as well as a sign of medical precision whilst the butchering was a bit less tidy done with some haste to as sticks covered in slabs of meat surround the small camp fire to sear filing the air with that distinct rich aroma of bacon and pork fat. Yugo sits there wrapping the slabs of meat as they finish cooking sprinkling herbs from the near by area to add a bit of deeper flavor and nutrition to the meals as he awaits the arrival of the team from Konohagakure.

His gaze Locked before the dancing campfire, there was a momentary second where Jin's attention returned to reality, his gaze looking towards the others of this makeshift team, slowly lifting himself from the fallen tree stump before walking over towards Kokezaru, and Gyoken, leaving Yugo to tend to prepping the meal on his own. His footsteps light and stride with an almost shadowy fluidity. In but a brief second where he was once on a tree stump now stood behind the slightly shorter Gyoken, his cyan eyes looking down upon the Uchiha rival and friend. His expression overcast by his hair was that of pain, fury, and sorrow. His left hand gently resting on his hip, Jin spoke with a almost emotionless tone,
"Gyoken... I want to see how far you've gotten before we carry on with the mission in the morning. Fight me..."
His complex expression showed that beyond the overcast shadows to his eyes, burned a determined expression to confirm his strength, but also to see if his rival had been slacking in training.
"Kokezaru... I'd like you to act as our Proctor..."
Jin's gaze slowly shift towards Kokezaru as he looked at them both awaiting a response. Deep down though, this "Fight" wasn't to determine his or Gyokens Strength, but rather should Gyoken be as keen as always, the expression in his eyes showed he needed to let out his pain, a pain that was eating him alive daily.

The scent of searing meat drifted through the air, carried on a soft breeze that whistled lazily through the trees. The rich aroma of pork fat and crisping skin mingled with the earthy sharpness of wild herbs, filling Gyoken’s lungs. It stirred a rumble in his stomach, but even as he talked casually with Yugo, a part of him remained vigilant—senses finely attuned to every shift in the forest around them. Kokezaru moved above, leaping from branch to branch with that effortless Sarugami grace, his focus locked in sensory awareness, though Gyoken knew the monkey sage was listening. Ryuzaru, meanwhile, darted ahead through the treetops, scouting deeper into the Moonlight District’s ever-thickening silence. The group had found its rhythm. A natural cohesion, built not from years of camaraderie but from shared mission and quiet respect.

It was then that Gyoken felt it—a weight behind him. A familiar pressure, oppressive in its stillness. Jin. His chakra rolled in like a low thundercloud—coiled, unreadable, held back by force of will alone. Gyoken didn’t need to turn to recognize it. The heaviness of it, the way it sat just behind him, was like standing near the eye of a storm. And then Jin spoke—his voice calm but void of emotion, sharp as steel drawn in shadow.
“Gyoken... I want to see how far you've gotten before we carry on with the mission in the morning. Fight me...”
Gyoken remained seated at the fire, eyes steady on the flames as they twisted and danced. He said nothing at first, allowing the quiet to stretch between them. He didn’t need to analyze the tone. He could feel it. This wasn’t a challenge—it was a cry for something else. He finally rose to his feet, brushing ash from his sleeve as he turned halfway, eyes low but voice clear.

“You sure this is the right place to settle a score, Jin? We’re being watched. Or worse—waited on.”

He looked over his shoulder, finally meeting Jin’s eyes—those piercing cyan irises partially veiled by shadowed bangs. Gyoken didn’t flinch. He didn’t smirk or scoff. He simply looked, and he understood.

“You’re not asking to spar. You’re asking to bleed.”

He stepped forward once, the wind brushing through his dark hair as he moved just enough to show he wasn’t avoiding Jin—but that he wasn’t accepting either.

“And I won’t be the one to cut you open just so you can feel something again. You think strength is the only way to grieve. It’s not.”

He turned away from Jin then, walking toward the fire and tossing another log into the flames, the sparks hissing as they rose into the night.

“We have a mission. If you want to test me, survive the Moonlight District. That’ll tell you all you need to know.” His voice softened as he sat back down. “But if you want to talk…you know I’m not hard to find.”

He didn’t look back. He didn’t have to. Whatever came next—between them, between the team, between the silence of the Moonlight District and what lay buried within—would test them all. But Gyoken knew this much: this wasn’t the time to fight a friend. It was the time to protect one.

As the group sat around the campfire, where the flames danced upon crackling wood, Kokezaru could be seen hanging upside down from a branch by his tail, his legs crossed as he swayed in the breeze. He was simply relaxing and enjoying the beauty of nature as he waited for the food to finish cooking. While he enjoyed eating fruit, he was still a human and required more than simply fruit to maintain a healthy diet.

"The boar is smelling good."

Kokezaru would think as he hung there, minding his own business before hearing the one named Jin speak up. He would carefully listen and take in what the boy was saying as he heard him proclaim his desire to see how Gyoken had grown since they last met. It was a challenge to the young Uchiha, but that was not the most interesting part to Kokezaru, though. What caught his attention the most was the proclamation from Jin that he wanted Kokezaru to act as proctor for the sparring match.

"This kid is crazy. We are on a mission, and he wants to fight Gyo. What has the Hokage got me into?"

Kokezaru would question to himself as he remained in place, letting Gyoken speak before speaking up himself, as he was only asked to proctor, not participate. What came from Gyoken next, though, was not what Kokezaru had been expecting. It was neither acceptance nor outright refusal, and instead, it was a calm and reasonable statement that seemed rather deep and personal for the two. Kokezaru would listen intently, not really knowing the past these two shared, but he did agree this wasn't the time and place for this, as he remembered the words of Yaju about the last mission Gyoken had been on. Right now, they were on an official mission as Hidden Leaf Shinobi, and while Kokezaru was known for his laid-back and at times childish personality and antics, he was still a shinobi and had the desire to complete missions efficiently.

"I didn't know what the deal is between you two dudes, but we are on an official mission, and like Yaju-sensei said, we don't need a repeat of whatever happened on the last mission you guys were on."

All the while as this occurred Ryuzaru was on watch patrolling the parameter with the intention of doing everything to watch over Kokezaru while also avoiding the teens and their drama that was running wild around the campfire.

The air around the fire is filled with the sickly sweet aroma of roasted wild garlic and onion and the hickory like aroma of smoke mixing with rich savory fat flowing down the slabs of impaled boar steaks and bacon tinged with that faint wild scent found only in wild beasts. The young Kumo genin breaths in the array of scents as the others arrive provoking a subtle and ever so slight smirk but the expression fades as he he sees the tension. A slight scowl spreads across Yugo's lips followed by a gentle sigh thinking about the unfortunate fact that as an outsider he could hardly say anything. "Regardless on if you fight or not, Food is ready some slabs are semi dried for long term rations and the rest can be a filling protein for the next few days." In all honesty Yugo isnt bothered by conflict but there was an odd sense of unease in this interaction of the fellow mission members though he would honestly just compel them both to throw one good solid blow each to test each others potency and endurance to cut past fat of a prolonged scuffle.

Yugo fills a canteen with the rich fat from the boar wrapping a cloth around the container to keep it insulated knowing it could be handy later when an improvised flame might be needed. He wraps up some of the dryer slabs and chunks of meat with cloth as he shoves it into a satchel but leaves out some of the juiciest slabs of boar steak and bacon out for his team mates to take at their leisure. Prepped and ready he stands up his arms folded over his chest as he watches a bit back and out of the way waiting to see how the rest decide to proceed. "if a rest or butting heads is needed then so be it but im ready to depart as im eager to get ahead of any potential threats or problems that may be lurking". He takes a hearty bite from one of the boar steaks letting the rich meaty flavor dance on his tongue as he lets out a gentle sigh of enjoyment.

Jin Tendo Adult.png

Hearing the proclamation from Gyoken, Jin made a irritable clicking sound from his tongue to his teeth, his eyes glow fading away, overcasted by the shadow of his hair. But rather than making a snide remark or complaining, Jin's right hand slowly reached into his robe, pulling out Four small palm sized sheets of paper, and a worn down pencil, holding a sheet for each member including himself, Jin spoke with a calm tone almost quiet that it bordered a hushing whisper,
"I suggest we write down out field of expertise. If you believe we are possibly being watching then saying what we are stronger in out loud would only pose a greater disadvantage against us. After we've exchanged this information, then toss the paper into the fire."
His words carrying a sensible reasoning and tactic behind it as with his sheet he put down Speed, Taijutsu, and Physical Power for a limited time before holding it out towards gyoken with a blank sheet, his left hand taking the remaining two sheet being held out to Kokezaru and Yugo. Rather than being unreasonable and letting the pain of his degrading emotional state consume him, he rather would get a small understanding on what he will be working along side of,a silent method to better attune himself for more precise and synchronicity with his current teammates. But as he was doing this he spoke towards Gyoken one last time, something like a promise,
"If we survive this mission Gyoken Uchiha... I want you to peer into my mind when we return to the village after the briefing and report."
Giving as little information as possible whilst giving Gyoken a reason that Jin planned on surviving this mission; and those this subtle remark was said, he slowly turning his head towards Yugo, his voice speaking with its calm disposition,
"Are you able to pack them for us to get moving after we figure out what our strengths are so we can cover each others weaknesses?"
His head lifting slightly to reveal his dulled cyan eyes, hints of mental exhaustion in the form of dried darkened rings around his eyes, not a type of mental exhaustion one gets from sleep deprivation, but the type you see after one has shed tears. And even though Jin carried something on his shoulders, he was willing to hold it down abit longer till the mission was completed; prioritizing a route of Logic and success where this makeshift team of Genin can let one another know their expertise without having to speak it out, and a way to burn the evidence as to keep their roles a secret.

Gyoken sat near the edge of the campfire, his eyes flickering between the crackling flames and his teammates. The soft orange glow lit his onyx skin and faintly reflected in his black onyx eyes as it briefly flared, not out of necessity, but out of habit—a quiet gesture to remind himself to remain sharp, even in calm moments like this. He watched Yugo work with practiced precision, butchering the boar with steady hands and dividing the meat methodically. It wasn’t just survival—it was strategy. Nutrient preservation, efficient rations, consideration for long-term travel. Gyoken admired that. His voice cut into the quiet, smooth but edged with sincerity. “You’ve done this before… more than once.”

He took a piece of the sizzling meat when offered, but didn’t bite immediately. Instead, his eyes turned toward Kokezaru in the trees and Ryuzaru’s shifting shadow in the canopy above. “Kokezaru’s on it too. We could sleep easily tonight—as if we weren’t on mission.”

His gaze returned to Yugo, the firelight catching his smirk just barely. “Remind me to never arm-wrestle you, by the way. That strength of yours—must be a nightmare to spar against.” After a pause, he turned the meat in his hands before taking a bite, chewing slowly, contemplative. “You know... with this kind of coordination, we’re already looking more like a squad" He leaned back on one arm, letting the warmth of the fire crawl up his spine. “Don’t think I’m just being sentimental either—missions like these don’t allow for weak links. You all move like you’ve been doing this for years. Makes it easy for me to trust where I step.” He tossed the bone aside after finishing, dusting his hands off quietly. Gyoken surely admired each of the team members, each of them teaching him what it meant to be a shinobi and how to successfully complete a mission, this was vastly different compared to his last mission. “Let’s make sure this isn’t our last meal together.”

Gyoken's gaze met Jin’s as the paper was handed to him. He accepted the blank sheet without a word at first, turning it over in his hand before crouching low beside the fire. He drew a kunai from his thigh pouch, not for defense, but to write—scratching his answer into the paper with the edge. His movements were smooth and unhurried, deliberate like someone used to operating under pressure.

“You’re right,” he finally muttered, voice low but even, his gaze never leaving the paper. “No point shouting our strengths into the dark if something’s already listening.” He finished writing and glanced briefly toward Jin again. The fatigue behind his teammate’s eyes didn’t go unnoticed. The pain there was familiar. It echoed something buried in Gyoken’s own chest—something that had never truly stopped aching.

He folded the paper twice, stood, and walked it into the heart of the fire. As the flame began to consume it, he turned back toward Jin, arms loosely crossed. “I’ll hold you to that, Jin… when we make it back.” There was no bravado in his tone, no smirk. Just quiet promise. A tether of trust cast between them in the midst of uncertainty. Gyoken shifted his weight, scanning the perimeter before returning his attention to Jin with a nod. “If you’re still standing at the end of this, I’ll dive in. No barriers. Just be sure you’re ready for what I might find.” He stepped back into formation with the group, eyes sharp again, spirit steady. “Let’s get moving. I’ve got a bad feeling that time’s not on our side.”
